Modern motorcycle performance exhaust pipes have moved towards titanium as the preferred material.  This is a trend that TK Pipes finds astonishing.  Why is that?  Because exhaust pipes are designed to reduce noise (by absorbing sound).  Titanium as a material may be a bit lighter than alumimium, but the sound reduction properties are significantly less. Titanium is also not very strong, so crash damage and general durability is reduced when compared to Aluminium.   TK says "if you can damage one of my pipes, i don't want to see the condition of the rest of the bike, or the rider!"
